Use Case: AWS Educate

Amazon, one of the world’s largest organizations, has done quite a bit over the years to give back. AWS Educate is part of Joining Forces, the initiative that works to ensure that service members, veterans, and their families have the tools they need to succeed in civilian life. Dedicated to helping those aiming to build a career in cloud computing, AWS Educate provides online career pathways, provision of micro-credentials, and the AWS Educate Job Board.

In order to ensure that service was accessible to U.S. based veterans, transitioning military personnel, and their spouses, AWS decided to offer exclusive pricing and promotions available only to those groups mentioned. This includes, but is not limited to:

  • $50 in AWS credits (or $40 in no credit card required AWS Educate Starter Account)
  • Free access to AWS Technical Essentials ($600 value)
  • Free access to the 25+ cloud career pathways. Each pathway features 30+ hours of content, knowledge checks, a final assessment, and a project.
  • Opportunity to gain micro-credentials, including AWS Educate Certificates of Completion and AWS Educate Badges

Using SheerID’s military verification, AWS now can verify eligibility upon account creation. All service members must do is create an account and verify their status with non-sensitive information. They then will have access to the AWS Educate resources needed to accelerate cloud-related learning endeavors to help power civilian career success.
