Last week, our team had a great time in Dallas, TX where we attended the Retail’s Digital Summit. We had the opportunity to talk face-to-face with some of the biggest names in retail and educate attendees on the importance of eligibility verification in the world of omnichannel retailing.

Throughout the event, speakers from top brands like Sephora and JCPenney, as well as technology heavyweights Facebook and Google, gave their insights into digital trends. With technological and consumer driven challenges and opportunities in today’s retail landscape, here are just a few of the important takeaways from the show:

  1. No slowing down – With so many new technologies emerging,experts see that the industry is only going to keep increasing at a rapid pace. Retailers need to be flexible in order to quickly coordinate and adapt to the newest technologies to stay ahead of the game. Think in terms of “blink to buy.”
  2. Customers are in charge – While this concept is nothing new, there was a huge emphasis on the fact that authenticity, convenience, personalization and meaningfulness are the key factors customers want and that retailers need to focus on in order to produce sales.
  3. Mobile is a consumer behavior – Facebook’s Director of Product Marketing, Maz Sharafi, believes mobile is no longer just a technology or a channel, it’s a consumer behavior. Consumers are influenced by what they see when looking at their mobile devices, so retailers need to adopt a mobile mindset and take advantage of reaching their target audience through this channel.
