What do teachers think of exclusive discounts?

If you had to guess how manypie chart of 6.7 million teachers teachers there are in the United States,
what would your answer be?

Well, if you guessed over 6.7 million, you would be correct! Think about all the teachers you have had throughout your lifetime, where would you be without them? Teachers have played a huge part in the person you have become today and the knowledge you bring to the world. But, did you know that besides working hard to educate children, teachers are also using their own, hard earned money to provide for their classrooms needs? Can you imagine having to spend your paycheck on office supplies you needed at work?

On average teachers during the 2013-2014 school year, spent $513 out-of-pocket to provide various supplies for their students. In our recent teacher survey, we asked teachers to tell us what they were spending their personal money on, this is what they had to say:

Since teachers are spending their own money on their classrooms, they’re looking for good deals when they are shopping for these items. One of the teachers who took our survey even said: “I would rather give my business to a company that supports teachers by giving them a discount that another company doesn’t. It makes me feel valued as a customer and like the company appreciates what teachers do for the community.”

  • 94.3% go out of their way to shop at a company who offers a teacher discount
  • 81% seek out companies that offer teacher discounts

Offering a teacher discount not only creates brand loyalty among the teacher market but it also makes your customers feel valued:

  • 80% are more loyal to brand that offer teacher discounts
  • 97.4% feel valued by companies that offer discount programs for teachers

Although our survey revealed how much teachers truly love getting discounts, it also revealed that they wish companies were doing a better job to get their attention. They said that companies do not advertise their discounts well enough, making teachers unaware of the discounts that are available to them. Currently only 59% of teachers are enrolled in exclusive discount programs, meaning there is a need to reach the teacher market.

Back to school is just around the corner and is a perfect time to start targeting the teacher market. We all know the importance of teachers, why not thank them by offering an exclusive teacher discount protected by SheerID?
