Have you already filled out a verification form for the deal you want?
The form is found on the retailer’s site, like Spotify, Foot Locker, Sprint, etc. Sometimes verification happens after you’ve already created an account with the retailer or added items to your shopping cart. If you need to get started, check out our “All Deals” page and click on the link for the deal you’re interested in or visit the retailer’s site.
You’ll be notified via email, or text/SMS when available, with the results of your verification request. If you are not instantly verified, more information is needed, which you can provide by uploading an official document that supports the information you’ve entered on the form.
If you’ve already filled out the verification form, but your request was denied and you need help going forward, click here. If you need help with your coupon or reward, please click here. If you need information about uploading a document, please read below.
How/Where do I upload my document?
If you’ve filled out the verification form, but more information is needed to confirm your eligibility, you’ll need to upload an official document to complete the process.
First, please note that you have seven (7) days to upload your document before your request expires. But don’t worry, you can submit a new request if that happens.
To upload a document, you can follow the instructions in the email you received about your verification results. In most cases, there is a link to upload your document in the message. You can also send your document as an attachment in an email to firstname.lastname@example.org. Please be sure to include information about the retail offer you are interested in (Nike student deal, for example) and the name and email address you entered on the verification form. This will make it easier for our team to find your request and help you get verified in the fastest, most efficient manner.
What kinds of documents to upload
An official document will be issued by the organization you’ve entered on the form (for example, from your school, employer, the military, etc.). It must be an image file: JPG, PNG, or PDF. A copied and pasted document such as a Microsoft Word file is not considered a valid format for verification purposes. Your document should show the information you’ve entered on the form: the same first and last name, same organization name (school, military branch, first responder agency, etc.), and the status you’ve entered on the form, whether that is enrollment in the current term, or your status as an active Reservist, etc. For your security and privacy, please redact sensitive information before uploading your document.
Why was my request rejected?
So, you’ve filled out the form and received an email that says that your request could not be completed. No worries! We are happy to help.
Each request asks for some information to confirm your eligibility for the offer. This may include your first and last name, organization name (or military branch), and your current status, employment, or enrollment if you are a student.
Odds are that a key component was missing from the document you uploaded, or perhaps it wasn’t an exact match. The email you received should give the reason why your request was denied. For questions about your verification request, please contact SheerID at email@example.com; however, if you have questions about your eligibility or the offer itself, you’ll want to contact the company from whom you are trying to get a deal. Please note that documents are deleted when requests are finalized, so if you’d like the document to be reconsidered, you’ll need to attach it to your email to SheerID customer service.
For a faster resolution, please make sure your email tells us what retailer you are referring to (Spotify, Foot Locker, L.L. Bean, etc), what the issue is, and the information you’ve entered on the form, such as the first and last name and the email address, or others that may be associated with your account with the retailer.
Most Common Rejection Reasons for Military Requests
- The status selected on the verification form does not match status displayed on the document.
The document you upload must reflect the military status you’ve selected on the form. So, if your current status is Active Duty, you’ll need to upload a document that supports that. A DD214 will show document reviewers the status of a Veteran, or Reservist if the Reserve Obligation Term is current. Military Retirees must upload a document that shows Retirement status or a document showing 20+ years of service. If you are uploading a DD214 to verify your status as a Veteran, the discharge must be characterized as Honorable in order to be accepted. Please note that if your DD214 shows an Uncharacterized discharge, it will be rejected. We are aware that designation can mean a multitude of things, including injury or early release. However, our retail partners require proof of honorable discharge for us to approve a request for Veterans. For your security and privacy, please redact sensitive information before uploading your document.
- Document does not show last name as…
Your name has changed since you were in the military. Upload your military document again, but this time upload an additional document that shows your legal name change like a driver’s license, marriage certificate, or other document at the same time. Please note that documents are deleted when the request is finalized, so it’s important to upload both documents at once so that they can be reviewed at the same time.
Most Common Rejection Reason for Student Requests
- Document does not show current or valid date
The document doesn’t show enrollment in the current term. Most student IDs do not show enrollment in the present term; they often show an issue date or an expiration date. However, nearly all of the student offers protected by SheerID require proof of enrollment in the current term. In most cases, an acceptance or admission letter will not be accepted as proof of enrollment. This is because many students receive multiple acceptance letters but do not enroll in more than one school, and the document may infer enrollment in a future term that is not yet being accepted. Please note that a print date or access date does not show current enrollment: the document you upload must show enrollment in the ongoing term, so you may want to submit a class schedule, tuition or registration receipt, etc. These documents most often display all the required information: first and last name, school name (they are school-issued), and enrollment information for the current term. A note about school lists: If your school is not on the drop-down menu, and you are unable to manually type the name of your school into the school name field, then you are not eligible for the retail offer at this time. You can contact the retailer to see their terms and conditions and get more information about other offers that you may be able to get.
Most Common Rejection Reason for Faculty/Teacher Requests
- Document does not show current or valid date.
The majority of faculty offers protected by SheerID require proof of employment during the current school year. Many faculty IDs are not dated or not re-issued every year. To make sure your verification is approved, please upload a document that shows your faculty status is current: perhaps a redacted pay stub (issued within the last 60 days) or an official letter from your Human Resources department. For your security and privacy, please redact sensitive information before uploading your document.
Most Common Rejection Reason for First Responder Requests
- Status selected on verification form does not match status displayed on the document.
Many pay stubs do not display the direct connection to a first responder agency such as police, fire, or emergency medical services. They are often issued by a municipality and denote a department number but do not specifically show the agency name entered on the form. In order to be approved for a first responder deal, please upload documents that show your first and last name, the name of the agency entered on the form, and show the status of active Police, Firefighter, or EMT. For your security and privacy, please redact sensitive information before uploading your document.
Why isn’t my coupon/reward working?
SheerID is a third-party company that provides verification services. If you’ve gone through the verification process, but the discount is not being applied to your order or your account, you’ll need to contact the retailer directly about this issue. We do not have access to your Foot Locker, Nike, L.L. Bean (or any other retailer) account or cart. However, if you did not receive your discount code or success link, and you don’t see it in your inbox or spam folder, we can almost always resend the verification success message so that you can redeem your discount, or so that you can pass it along to the retailer’s customer service department so that they can assist you.
If your status has been successfully verified, but you are having trouble applying the discount to your account, you may want to try clearing the cache on your internet browser or trying a different browser and click on your success link again.
Be sure to read the terms and conditions for the deal for which you’ve been verified: it could be that the items you’ve put in your shopping cart are excluded from the offer.
If you have questions about your account, products, or billing issues, you’ll definitely need to contact the retailer directly.
