Lufthansa Reaches New Heights with its Student Offer

“So for us at Lufthansa, we—I talk specifically about the student segment, as this is what we’re really targeting, um, together with SheerID at the moment. It’s a—it’s a very, sort of, important segment to target. Students have a very high urgency to book. So they’ll often get their, um, acceptance into their school or their university, and they want to make their flight booking very quickly. So, um, it’s important for us, of course, to—to make it as easy as possible for them to complete their booking.”

“And we offer them the increased baggage allowance, we offer them more flexibility for their bookings, um, should their travel plans change. And now, they can go directly to our website and book, um, pretty seamlessly with—with very little, sort of, manual intervention required. The automated verification that we have now has—has allowed us to increase our conversion rate, so we see a sort of doubling of our conversion rate compared to the very manual process that we had previously. So this is obviously really—really good for us.”

“And we benefit also from the fact that the students are highly likely to share their—share our special offer, um, with their friends and, you know, with their peers. So we see this quite a lot, especially across, um, social media now. One student may be traveling to a university, can share it among the group of friends, and then this brings a—a peak in demand for us. So yeah, these points combined, as I say, really allow us to continue to expand the—the products, um, hopefully into more markets going forward.”
