Favorite Super Bowl Ads – 2015
Besides hoping for a good game (which it was, not to mention very depressing for all the Seahawks fans out there) we also tune in to the Super Bowl hoping to get a few good laughs and some entertainment out of the highly anticipated Super Bowl commercials. Well as you probably already know, viewers were not impressed with what they saw, some even going as far as saying it was the worst year for super bowl ads ever. While that statement might be a little dramatic, I’d have to agree that a majority of the commercials were pretty strange, lacking the normal humor and overall creativity that we all expect.
Luckily, every once in while there was a commercial that would live up to the Super Bowl “commercial standards.” So here are some of my favorite Super Bowl ads of 2015.
Toyota – How Great I Am
I first heard of Amy Purdy when she was on Dancing with the Stars and was instantly amazed by her ability to dance being a double amputee. Well this Toyota commercial, narrated by a Muhammad Ali speech, showed clips of Amy doing extreme sports, leaving viewers even more amazed by her than before.
eSurance – Sorta Mom
eSurance had two commercials this year. While Breaking Bad fans liked the Walter White version, I thought the Lindsey Lohan version was pretty funny, mocking her infamous driving record.
BMW – New Fangled Idea
Who knew that the @ sign would be such a huge part of our lives today? While I’m not completely sold on the fact that I want all cars to look like smart cars in 20 years, I thought this BMW commercial was pretty clever.
Bud Light – Real Life PacMan
While EDM concerts might not be for everyone, no one can deny how fun it would be to play human PacMan. Everyone I watched the super bowl with stopped what they were doing to watch this commercial, and when it was over immediately said, “that was awesome!”
Clash of Clans – Revenge
I’m really not much of a gamer, so I have never played Clash of Clans, but I did think this commercial was pretty creative and thought the play on the Taken series with Liam Neeson was pretty funny.
Minions – Super Fans Spot
It seemed like there were lots of new movie trailers being aired during the Super Bowl, most of which actually looked pretty good. But out of all of them I thought the new Minions movie commercial was pretty funny. I especially liked that they made it football-esque.
Budweiser – Lost Dog
Last but not least, the Budweiser “Lost Dog” commercial. I’m sure you’ve already seen it, but it was just too cute to not include!
Since there were such strong reactions to the Super Bowl ads this year, I’m already looking forward to what marketers and advertisers will have up their sleeve for next year. Will they stick to trying to emotionally connect with their viewers like most of them seemed to do this year, or go back to the funny commercials?
If you’re still disappointed about the 2015 Super Bowl commercials, make sure you watch this hilarious clip that aired after the Super Bowl during a special “Super Bowl” edition of The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon. It definitely makes up for the lack of comedy in this year’s commercial line up. Enjoy!
